AVG Protection Free is a full spectrum computer protection/antivirus suite for Windows PCs.

AVG Antivirus is one of those rare programs that does its job without being a horribly bloated resource hog. Whether you get the free or pro version is immaterial - you'll get a great antivirus suite that will protect your computer without causing it to slow to a crawl. You'll also get access to the incredible Zen tool, which will let you protect all of your home's devices. This is a great suite of protection tools that does more than it necessarily has to do.

The only bad parts about this program come with using the free version. The free version is actually quite robust, and most users will get everything they want out of it. AVG will; however, bug you to upgrade to the pro version endlessly. There's no real way to avoid this, and it's probably a good thing for AVG's business model. It's still annoying, though. Other than that, the only thing you have to worry about is a terribly slow install speed. That's a relatively small problem and one that you'll probably only have to deal with when you initially download the program.

If you're looking for a lightweight antivirus program, this one is a great choice. If you go with the full version, you'll get device integration like you've never imagined and an antivirus suite that will keep you protected around the clock. Even the free version works well, if you're willing to put up with endless update notices. All told, this is a great antivirus suite that is recommended for all users.
